### Lesson Plan: Moving the Body **Grade Level:** Primary 1 **Subject:** Physical and Health Education **Duration:** 45 minutes #### **Objective:** - Students will understand the importance of physical movement. - Students will be able to perform basic body movements such as running, jumping, and stretching. - Students will learn to describe how their bodies feel during and after exercise. #### **Materials Needed:** - Open space (playground or gym) - Cones or markers - Music player and child-friendly songs - Mats for stretching - Picture cards of different body movements (optional) --- ### **Warm-Up (10 minutes)** 1. **Introduction (2 minutes):** - Greet the students and introduce the topic "Moving the Body". - Briefly explain why moving the body is important (e.g., keeps us healthy, makes us strong, and is fun). 2. **Simple Stretching (8 minutes):** - Lead the students in a series of gentle stretches: - Reach up high to the sky. - Bend down and touch your toes. - Twist your torso gently to the left and right. - Arm circles (both forward and backward). ### **Activity 1: Follow the Leader (10 minutes)** - **Instructions:** - The teacher leads an activity where the students follow the leader (the teacher) while performing different movements: - Walking - Running - Hopping on one foot - Jumping with both feet together - Spinning in place - **Objective:** - Students will learn how to follow directions and mimic various movements. ### **Activity 2: Movement Stations (15 minutes)** - **Setup:** - Create four stations using cones or markers.
